Jahnna Beecham and Katie Ortlip, RN, LCSW discuss their book LIVING WITH DYING: A complete guide for caregivers

SUDDENLY –– YOU’RE A CAREGIVER
Hospice Social Worker Katie Ortlip and author Jahnna Beecham will be discussing issues that affect the more than 45 million Americans who are caring for a spouse or relative. They will talk about the advance directive and the new dementia clause, the benefits of hospice, the facts about morphine, how the body goes through the dying process, and important steps to take to have the best death possible. Their book is especially relevant for aging Baby Boomers. As Katie Ortlip says, “Sooner or later we will all become caregivers or the one who is cared for.”

This must have easy-to use manual instructs caregivers how to talk about end of life wishes and concerns, and navigate the emotional and spiritual journey with their loved ones. It offers clear instructions for giving the best care possible including how to control pain, address symptoms, and understand the dying process. The book is not only packed with useful information, but also chronicles author Jahnna Beecham’s loving, often humorous, experiences with her 90 year-old father in his last six months of life. Katie Ortlip adds her own inspiring tales from 25 years as a hospice nurse and social worker.
