The joy comes from connection to the earth and the myriad creatures that inhabit it. My experience rehabbing raptors and wolves means they inhabit my dreams and demand to have their stories told. The local wildlife and landscape are an endless source of discovery and refuge for me. The dread comes from seeing the damage that is being inflicted on the earth through pollution\, deforestation\, etc. These things too haunt my dreams and show up in my work. \nMy hope is that these poems might inspire readers to contemplate our relationship with and impact on other life forms and the wild spaces of our planet.

He traces lines up moon-washed faces in Indian Creek and edits his body language under boulders in Joe’s Valley. This story centers on the behaviors of a retired truck driver on the island of Hawai’i who brings people together in joy and connection and challenges the toxic masculinity and impotence many of us may feel in these troubled times.

The failure damaged my self-image remarkably. Thoughts of suicide wafted through my brain. \nAbout a decade later my ex-wife was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD). I read several books about this mental illness. There is no cure. \nI met acquaintances and friends in Europe and the USA whose mothers\, wives\, husbands or children showed borderline or bipolar behavior. Listening to the stories of their unbearable pain and loneliness encouraged me to write this booklet. Maybe it will help some readers to overcome their loneliness.
